E-Mail Security Terminologies
i) MTA ( Message Transfer Agent): It is a device that transfers email from one computer to another computer. ESA will be acting as MTA.
ii) MUA ( Mail User Agent): It is an application in the computer used to send/receive emails. Microsoft outlook will be acting as MUA.
iii) MX( MAIL EXCHANGER ) RECORD: Specifies Servers FQDN that should receive email address. Basically, it will be SMTP Server.
iv) A( Address) Record : Specifies IP Address of MX Record.
v) Incoming Mail : Mail from the Internet to the company's Internal Email Servers.
v) Outgoing Mail: Mail from Company's Internal Email Servers to the Internet.
vi) Groupware Server: It is the server that receives the email from the users and forwards the email to MTA on behalf of the users. Ex: Exchange
