--> There are five Exchange Server Roles in Microsoft Exchange Server,
i) Mail Box Server
ii) Client Access Server
iii) Hub Transport Server
iv) Edge Transport Server
v) Unified Messaging Server
--> In order Exchange Server to work in any organization, we need three server roles need to be installed
i) Mail Box Server
ii) Client Access Server
iii) Hub Transport Server
--> We can install all server roles except Edge Transport Server in a single Exchange Server.
--> Edge Transport Server need to be installed Separately.
Mail Box Server Role
--> Mail Box Server is used to provide storage services for outlook users.
--> Mail Box Server used to handle Public Folder and Mail Databases.
Client Access Server
--> Client Access Server provides connectivity to the users to access to mailboxes by using following,
i) Outlook Web Application ( OWA).
ii) Exchange Active Sync (EAS).
iii) Exchange Web Services ( EWS)
Hub Transport Server
--> Responsible for Mail Flow in the organization.
--> Responsible for E-Mail Policies.
