Proxy Server will be deployed in two modes
i) Explicit Mode
ii) Transparent Mode
i) Explicit Mode
--> In Explicit Mode, we need to manually configure proxy server settings in the browser via 3 methods
i) Manual
ii) PAC File
iii) WPAD
--> User Sends all the requests to Proxy Server
--> Proxy Server performs DNS resolution and then sends traffic to the destination
--> Does not require configuration in L3/L2 devices.
ii) Transparent Mode
--> In the Transparent mode, we don't need to configure proxy server settings in the browser.
--> Requires configuration in L3/L2 devices.
--> Uses WCCP protocol or Policy based routing to configure Transparent mode.
--> User Sends all the requests to the destination, the router/firewall receives the traffic which redirects it to the proxy server using WCCP.
--> In this mode user performs DNS resolution.
iii) Inline Mode
--> In the Inline Mode, We need to place WSA in the path of all the network directly going to the Internet.
--> It is the easiest method of the deployment.
--> Used mostly on Branch networks or Small Networks.
--> Default Gateway for the clients need to set to WSA IP Address.
Note: Deployment of Proxy Server will depend upon following things
i) Who will perform DNS resolution
ii) How the traffic will be redirected to Proxy Server
