How to Replace Leaf Switch in ACI Fabric
--> There are some cases where you need to replace the Leaf switch in the ACI Fabric due to faulty hardware, CPU, Ports.
--> Before doing any changes in the ACI Fabric related to Leaf Switch Replacement, Note down the below information of switch which is going to be replaced:
1) POD ID
2) Node ID
3) Node Name
4) Serial Number
--> Navigate to APIC GUI: Fabric > Inventory > Fabric Membership > Right Click on the Switch which is going to be replaced and Select Decommission
--> Wait for 10 Minutes, Once the status of the switch shows decommissioned then Right-click on the switch and Remove from the Controller
--> Now you can power off from the Switch and Install the new Leaf switch in the Rack
--> Connect the New Leaf Switch to Spine Switches similar to the Faulty Old Leaf Switch and power on New Leaf Switch
--> Navigate to APIC GUI: Fabric > Inventory > Fabric Membership > Nodes Pending Registration > Find the New Switch that does not have any Node ID
--> Verify the Serial Number that matches with the Serial Number of New Leaf Switch
--> Navigate to APIC GUI: Fabric > Inventory > Fabric Membership > Nodes Pending Registration > Right Click on Switch > Select Register and Configure:
POD ID: Same as Old Faulty Leaf Switch
Node ID: Same as Old Faulty Leaf Switch
Node Name: Same as Old Faulty Leaf Switch
--> Navigate to APIC GUI: Fabric > Inventory > Fabric Membership > Registered Nodes > Right Click on Switch > Select Commission > The Switch will go to Active State
--> Navigate to APIC GUI: Fabric > Inventory > Topology > Verify the Switch is added to the topology
--> Now connect the Cables which were connected to the old faulty leaf switch to the newly added leaf switch in the ACI Fabric
--> Last thing you have to do is update the known_hosts file on the APIC by following the below steps:
apic1#bash
> ssh-keygen -R <New Leaf Hostname>
exit
