Local DNS Resolution:
--> GTM is acting as an Authoritative DNS Server for the clients and the DNS Query is received on the Listener:
i) Domain Name is not matching with Wide IP name
ii) Domain Name is not found in the DNS Express Zone
iii) DNS Cache is not enabled
iv) Pool of DNS Servers is not configured under Listener
--> The received DNS Query is processed by the Local BIND instance running on the F5 GTM.
--> If the DNS Query is received on the Self IP address with Port 53 is open then the resolution is done by Local Bind Instance running on the F5 GTM.
Note: The Bind feature should be enabled on the DNS Profile
Remote DNS Resolution:
--> GTM is acting as an Authoritative DNS Server for the clients and the DNS Query is received on the Listener:
i) Domain Name is not matching with Wide IP name
ii) Domain Name is not found in the DNS Express Zone
iii) DNS Cache is not enabled
--> The received DNS Query is processed by the Pool of DNS Servers configured under the Listener.
--> This is called Remote DNS Resolution as the resolution is performed by Remote DNS Servers.
--> If the Pool of DNS Servers are not configured under the Listener and the Listener IP address is not a self IP address then in that case also the query is sent to remote DNS Server.
