--> Cisco Nexus line cards are basically divided into two types: - M series and F series.
--> M Series card is basically used for the L3 purpose like routing etc. whereas F series card was originally a Layer2 card.
--> New third generation of F-series can support L3 features like MPLS, OTV etc.
i) M Series (M1, M2 & M3)
--> M1 Series was the introductory line cards that were offered by Cisco for Nexus.
--> M Series Line Cards support up to 100 Gbps interfaces.
--> Supports both Layer 2 and Layer3.
--> All M-Series Line Cards supports OTV, VPC.
--> M2 Series line cards provide more speed compared to M1 Series line cards up to 100G.
--> Only M2 Series Line Cards Support FEX.
--> FCOE and Fabricpath not supported in M-series Line cards
ii) F Series (F1,F2,F2e,F3)
--> F1 Series Line Cards were introduced after the M1.
--> Supports both Layer 2 and Layer3 in all F Series except F1 Line Card.
--> F Series Line Cards support up to 100 Gbps interfaces.
--> OTV, LISP, FEX, MPLS, and VXLAN is only supported in F3 cards.
--> FCOE and fabricpath supported in F-series Line cards.
