--> VPLS stands for Virtual Private Lan Service.
--> The main problem with ATOM is, it only supports Point to Point layer 2 VPN connection whereas VPLS supports both Point to Point and Point to Multipoint Layer 2 VPN connections.
--> VPLS service emulates Ethernet Switch functionality.
--> If a PE router receives any frame that has unknown destination MAC address then it is forwarded to all ports belonging to LAN segment of the same company.
--> LAN segment on Ethernet switch might be a collection of ports belong to the same VLAN.
--> VPLS Service uses Split Horizon and Spanning-Tree concept to prevent loops.
--> PE routers of VPLS should perform MAC Address learning and aging.
--> Similar to ATOM, VPLS uses two labels to forward the frames from one customer site to another customer site.
--> The top label or tunnel label identifies the egress PE router and bottom label or VC label identifies the customer site.
--> Similar to ATOM, targeted LDP session is created in between PE routers of VPLS.
