MX Record
--> MX Record stands for Mail Exchanger Record.
--> Mail Exchanger Records configured in DNS indicates Mail Server that is used to send the email for the particular domain.
--> When an email client sends an email, the sender’s Mail Server queries a DNS server for the MX record of the domain name in the recipient’s email address. To resolve the host name of the Mail Server
referenced by the MX record, it then queries for the A record of the destination Mail Server.
--> For example, if the recipient email address is user@example.com, in order to deliver the email, the sender’s Mail Server would query the MX and A records to determine the IP address of the email
gateway of example.com.
A Record
--> A Record stands for Address Record.
--> A records are configured on a DNS server indicates the IP address to which a host name resolves.
--> A record provides the IP address of the email server or gateway. The sender’s MTA then attempts to deliver the email to that IP address.
PTR Record
--> PTR Record stands for Pointer Record.
--> PTR record is used for the reverse DNS lookup.
--> PTR record is used to prevent spoofing attack, many SMTP servers query reverse DNS records to verify that the domain name provided in the SMTP greeting genuinely matches the IP address of the connecting SMTP client.
