We can configure OSPFV3 on cisco routers by using two methods
1) Traditional Method
2) New Style Method
--> Before configuring OSPFV3 on the router, there are some prerequisites need to be implemented on the router.
i) IPV6 routing must be enabled ( IPV6 unicast-routing)
ii) IPV6 address need to be enabled on the interface.
iii) IPV4 address for Router-ID
---> Traditional Method
Router(config)# ipv6 router ospf 100
Router(config-router)# router-id 123.1.1.1
Router(config-router)# exit
Router(config)# interface loo0
Router(config-if)# ipv6 ospf 100 area 0
Router(config)# interface eth0/1
Router(config-if)# ipv6 ospf 100 area 0
---> New Style Method
Router(config)# router ospfv3 100
Router(config-router)# router-id 123.1.1.1
Router(config-router)# exit
Router(config)# interface loo0
Router(config-if)# ospfv3 100 ipv6 area 0
Router(config)# interface eth0/1
Router(config-if)#ospfv3 100 ipv6 area 0
Note: By using New Style Method you can configure ospf for both IPV4 and IPv6 as well by using address-families.
