Juniper Architecture is mainly divided into two parts or planes
1) Control plane
2) Forwarding Plane
1) Control Plane:
-> Control plane contains Routing Engine or CPU, which act as brain for the device
-> Control plane is responsible for Device Management
-> Control Plane is responsible for Maintaining Protocol Updates
-> Control Plane maintains Primary Forwarding Plane
2) Forwarding Plane:
-> Forwarding Plane contains Packet Forwarding Engine.
-> Forwarding Plane receives the routing table from Control plane
-> Forwarding Plane is mainly used to forward the data and it uses ASIC to forward the data.
